Ferris & Sylvester are a London based duo made up of Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester, currently releasing their highly anticipated EP ‘Made In Streatham’. The record follows the duo’s strong year in 2017 where they were named Top 10 New Country Artists To Watch by Rolling Stone Magazine and received great support across the board. ‘Made In Streatham’ was written and recorded by the duo in their South London flat, detailing their life in Streatham Hill. The EP’s singles have had a great initial response, earning the duo a place in BBC Introducing in Devon’s Best of 2017 list and a double nomination at the Unsigned Music Awards 2018 for Best Songwriter and Best Folk/Country Act. As a result, the duo are quickly selling out their London shows, including their headline show at Battersea Arts Centre in January ‘18.
Ferris & Sylvester met as solo musicians, battling through the carnage that is London’s vibrant music scene and started writing together. In early 2016, Ferris & Sylvester’s thoughtfully crafted song writing caught the ear of legendary producer Youth (Paul McCartney/The Verve/ Crowded House). The pair recorded their first EP ‘The Yellow Line’ with Youth in his Space Mountain Studios, Spain (released 2017) which received widespread praise from Mojo Magazine, The Guardian and The Independent.
With clear references in their catchy folk setup to the mid-60s sounds of Greenwich Village combined with their meatier blues tones, the duo sit somewhere between Jack White and First Aid Kit. Their clever combination of Archie’s blues influence and Issy’s soft folk tone has created a distinctive genre of their own.
